At the Met Gala, Katy Perry made a major short hair debut and, obviously, needed the perfect beauty look to accompany it. Luckily, she had makeup artist Jake Bailey on her side and even luckier—for us/you, at least—we got the full deets on how he achieved Katy's "big dramatic eyes," which are definitely worthy of a #covermoment.
Let's break it down.
Jake explained that he used a "tawny, neutral palette on her skin, cheeks and lips" in order to let her graffiti-covered Moschino dress "take care of the bright colors.
Skin: In order to create a sheer glow on Katy's skin, Jake began the process "by buffing a small amount of COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation in shade L5 all over her skin with a small kabuki brush."
Eyes: For the biggest element of the look, Jake lined the upper lash line with COVERGIRL Intensify Me! Liquid Eyeliner and focused it in between lashes, rather than above them, which "creates 'invisible definition' to the eyes." He used an Eyeshadow Quad in Go For the Golds to "create a golden bronze wash of color all over her lids." He finished off her eyes with two coats of COVERGIRL The Super Sizer Mascara on the top and bottom lashes.
Cheeks: To add some subtle color to Katy's cheeks, Jake used COVERGIRL Clean Glow Blush in Spices. He "used the paler half of the compact on the apples and cheekbones and the darker half to contour under her cheekbones."
