“It’s fun now, too, because Will gets to nerd out with me a little bit,” Pinkett-Smith told MTV News on the red carpet for a finale screening of "Gotham" in Los Angeles. "You know, now that he’s playing Deadshot and all, who happens to be one of my favorite characters from the ’Suicide Squad.’ So he’s got all these old school ’Suicide Squad’ comic books, you know, Deadshot comic books. So, it’s been a lot of fun."
"When we go to different cities,” Pinkett-Smith added, “We go to different comic book stores to see what little gem they might have, which I love to do all the time, and which he always thought was silly until he became Deadshot."
And Will and Jada might not be the only graphic novel stars in the family moving forward. "Jaden definitely wants the opportunity to be a graphic novel star,” Pinkett-Smith said. "That’s what he’s looking for. He’s looking for that opportunity.”
As Jaden waits for his potential graphic novel role, Jada's wrapping up her work as Fish Mooney, someone she was happy to portray. "She’s one of the most fun, complicated characters I’ve had the pleasure of playing,” Pinkett-Smith noted.
While Smith won't be returning for the show's second season, she's still excited about how the series will evolve. "I’m interested in seeing what that is," Pinkett-Smith added, speaking about the show's second season plans. "I don’t know. I geek out on 'Gotham' just as much as everyone else... We gotta wait and see."
The "Gotham" season finale, "All Happy Families Are Alike," is set to air Monday on FOX.
