The "Suicide Squad" cast was already ridiculous, and they just added another big name.
Common will continue to expand his acting portfolio with a role in the upcoming movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He'll be joining Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne, among others.
Though there's no confirmation on what role Com will play, there's speculation it could be the John Stewart version of Green Lantern. The Chicago native was set to play that part in "Justice League: Mortal" a few years ago, though the movie was eventually scrapped.
We do, however, know that Will Smith is playing Deadshot, which he talked to MTV News about in February.
“With this character and the DC world, I love that I’m getting the opportunity for the global definition of Deadshot,” he said. “There’s been Deadshot in little appearances here and there, there’s an idea, but Deadshot isn’t defined, really. I get to be a part of the creation that will be the biggest historical image of Deadshot.”
Scott Eastwood, who is also starring in the movie, recently spoke with MTV News about his excitement about working with director David Ayer.
“This is my second time working with David Ayer, who is a fantastic director,” he said. “I couldn’t be more happy. Everyone is such a great talent on that flick, so I think it’s going to be really great.”
In addition to "Suicide Squad," which is scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 5, 2016, Common reportedly may be starring in Spike Lee's upcoming "Chiraq."
