Kendrick Lamar Is Inspired By Tupac On Glasses Malone's 'Thuggin'": Listen

K. Dot gets reflective on Glasses Malone's latest track.

Ready for a new Kendrick Lamar verse?

The Compton MC’s latest comes via Watts MC Glasses Malone’s “Thuggin,’” but before we hear K. Dot or G. Malone on the cut, we actually hear the voice of another well-respected MC: Tupac Shakur.

"Yes, I am gonna say that I’m a thug,” ‘Pac says in an audio clip that’s used on the track. "That’s because I came from the gutter and I’m still here.”

Glasses picks up on 'Pac's clip and elaborates on the track's theme.

“Yeah, I said, I’m a thug,” Malone raps. “Guess I need a motherf—kin' hug / Well, dig my momma up and tell her give me one.”

Kendrick joins in for the final verse on the track and it’s a reflective one.

“Sometimes I look in the mirror / and ask myself what I’m scared of,” Kendrick rhymes. “How dare the media portray me this way?”

Of course this isn’t the first time K. Dot’s been inspired by a Tupac clip. He included a Tupac interview on his latest album To Pimp A Butterfly which nearly got a 'Pac-inspired title.

“Thuggin’” is the first single off Malone’s upcoming album Glasshouse 2.
