Suge Knight To Stand Trial On Murder Charge

Knight reportedly collapsed after the judge's ruling.

Former Death Row Records CEO Marion “Suge” Knight will stand trial for murder, attempted murder, and hit-and-run charges for his alleged involvement in a deadly incident that took place earlier this year.

He’s being accused of running over two men on January 29 during a fatal hit-and-run that took place in Compton, California. The victims were Terry Carter, who reportedly died as a result of the incident, and Cle “Bone” Sloan, who was severely injured.

The April 16 ruling was made by Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen, according to The Los Angeles Times. Following the ruling, Knight was sent to a hospital as a result of a “medical emergency,” the sheriff’s office told the paper.

A Preliminary Hearing Preceded the Ruling

News of this ruling follows a preliminary hearing that made headlines after Sloan refused to cooperate with law enforcement officials regarding the incident in question. “I don’t want it to get misconstrued that I told on this man,” Sloan said in court Monday (April 13). “I’m no snitch. I will not be used to send Suge Knight to prison…I can’t say this man ran me over.”

There’s Video of the Incident

A video released by TMZ shows Knight’s truck running over the two victims. His attorney, Matthew Fletcher, said this was done in self-defense. "Mr. Sloan is the initial and consistent aggressor," Fletcher said. "There's no intent to kill, there's an intent to survive.”

How Knight’s Health Issues Have Affected Him

Along with the obvious emotional distress he's been facing, Knight claims he's been suffering from a ton of physical health issues as well. For instance, CNN reports that Knight has diabetes and blood clots.

In February, he was hospitalized multiple times following court appearances, according to The New York Times. And last month, Knight revealed he's blind in one eye with limited vision in the other. At the time, he said he wasn’t being given proper medical care in jail.

Knight has also claimed to be paralyzed on one side of his body. As a result, a judge ordered that he be placed in a wheel chair, which Knight was clearly unhappy with.
