Young Thug Says Lil Wayne’s Frustrated About His Career, Denies Beef

Thugger claims he'll never 'swap words' with his 'idol' Weezy.

It looks like the Lil Wayne and Young Thug back-and-forth continues, but is it really a beef?

Weezy finally responded to Thug’s Carter 6 album announcement urging fans to tune the Atlanta rapper out during a concert Thursday night and now, Thugger has reacted with some words of his own.

"I understand that Lil Wayne is frustrated about his career, and I feel him on that,” Young Thug said in an Instagram video post, which was made Friday (Apr. 10). "But this is my idol. I will never in my life swap words with him or beef with him about nothing. This is a person I look up to.”

At the end of the video Thug ended his statement with a taunting laugh and then stuck his tongue out. "I respect [Lil Wayne] for being someone so big in my life, no matter what he say,” he added in the post’s caption.

The friction stems from Thug's decision to name his album after Weezy's top-selling Tha Carter series. To add salt to the wound, Wayne's Tha Carter V is in label limbo and it's botched roll-out sparked a lawsuit between Weezy and Birdman, who also manages Thug.

In the Weezy video that surfaced last night, Wayne took a swipe at Thug, though he never actually addressed him by name.

"Before I go any further, I want y’all to do me a favor and stop listening to songs of n---as that pose naked on they motherf–king album cover,” he said during a concert in Mississippi Thursday night. The comment was a reference to Thug’s Carter 6 artwork, which features the rapper in the nude.

Thug's decision to release his own edition of Wayne's Carter series has caused quite a stir in fans' eyes. Some thought it was a genius move, while others found it disrespectful.

In September, Thug told MTV News that his plans for his own Carter albums would be determined by Wayne. “I don’t know if he’s gonna name one of them Carter VI," Thug said at the time. "It depends on what he names his album."

Now, it seems Thugger won't be waiting to see what Wayne titles his albums and Carter 6 might even drop before Weezy's Carter V arrives.
