This Kid Spelling 'Negus' With Some Help From Kendrick Lamar Is Spelling Bee Gold

This is the mashup that we deserve.

"N-E-G-U-S."

Kendrick Lamar spells it out, over and over, in a poem at the end of "i" on his recently released album, To Pimp a Butterfly.

If only it had come out in 2007, then maybe the then 12-year-old Andrew Lay wouldn't have such a hard time spelling it -- and a subsequent freakout when he got it right.

Lucky for us, someone has spliced together Lay's performance from the Scripps’ National Spelling Bee with K. Dot's track, and the result is something very special.

The original video of Lay tackling the word has almost 10 million views. The tension as he tries to figure it out is off the scale.

And the little dude's reaction to getting it right is some mixture of pure joy and utter surprise.

I mean, that's how we felt after hearing To Pimp A Butterfly, so I guess it all ties together.
