We've been dying to see "Jurassic World," the first entry in the revived "Jurassic Park" franchise since it was announced in some prehistoric era, and finally, finally we have our very first extended look at the new movie, two months before the whole flick hits theaters.
MTV News is exclusively revealing the very first clip from the movie, featuring a very revealing conversation between Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard). Check out the clip below, and keep scrolling to see our breakdown of nine things we learned from it.
There's definitely a new kind of dinosaur.Universal
OK, we figured this, but it's nice to see it confirmed. As Bryce Dallas Howard's character says, flat-out: "Yeah, it's kind of what we do here."
Chris Pratt is going to be funny.Universal
Oh, Chris Pratt, you had us at, "You wanna consult here, or in my bungalow?" Just consider him Han Solo, but with added dinosaur skills. But seriously, this is the first time we're seeing significant dialogue from Pratt (no, riding motorcycles with raptors doesn't count, no matter how awesome it is).
Chris Pratt can control raptors.Universal
He doesn't just ride those aforementioned motorcycles with them, he can actually communicate with them. "See, it's all about control with you. I don't control the raptors, it's a relationship," he tells Howard's character. "It's based on respect." We can respect that.
This is probably all Chris Pratt's fault.Universal
He's supposed to check the paddock for vulnerabilities, and it sounds like we're going to see a problem with a dinosaur on the loose. So you put two and two together, and it adds up to...Pratt's character effs it all up. Maybe.
Chris Pratt's character went on a date with Bryce Dallas Howard's character at some point.Universal
OOOooOOOOOooOOOOOooooh. [kissy sounds] But one date. Exactly one date. Caution, sexual tension ahead.
Bryce Dallas Howard's character is not a tequila drinker.Universal
So don't even ask.
Bryce Dallas Howard's character is Type A++Universal
Is there anything beyond Type A? We get the feeling she's it. It's going to be great to watch her clash with Pratt's character.
Chris Pratt's character thinks board shorts are a date outfit.Universal
Central American weather is no excuse. Han Solo would wear board shorts too, if there were board shorts in space.
Dinosaurs have at least three needs, and they're a lot like bros'.Universal
To be exact: They gotta eat, they gotta hunt, they gotta -- well, you know. Oh, and they're smart as anything. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
Two strong characters who are bound to clash, plus a bunch of whip-smart super-dinos on the loose? We can't wait to see "Jurassic World" after checking out this first exclusive clip.
"Jurassic World" hits theaters June 12.
