Here's How Snapchat Helped Cops Find This Alleged Burglar

Think before you snap.

A man wanted for burglary revealed his hiding spot to cops thanks to Snapchat, the Morning Sentinel reported last Monday (Mar. 23). Christopher Wallace, 24, posted his whereabouts on the app, not realizing his fellow Snapchatters would rat him out to the police. Oops.

Last January, Wallace stole several stoves from a camp in Maine's Pierce Pond Township, a move that landed him in hot water with authorities. Police had been searching for him, and he managed to avoid arrest until now. When Wallace snapped about his location -- his home in Fairfield, Maine -- someone relayed this info to the cops.

"Over the past few weeks, since our press release looking for the public's assistance in locating him, Mr. Wallace had become cocky. Which led to his downfall," the Somerset County Sheriff's Office wrote on their Facebook page following the arrest.

Cops then showed up at Wallace's home but initially couldn't find him, because he was hiding in a kitchen cabinet. I guess the place must have pretty roomy cabinets or something. Anyway, Wallace decided that being confined to a small space was the perfect time to boost his Snapchat score. He snapped that the police were investigating his home and that he was hiding from them.

You can guess what happened next. Tipsters called the cops to update them on Wallace's hiding spot, of course.

"A search of the kitchen cabinets turned up some food, some pots and pans, and also a pair of feet," the Somerset County Sheriff's Office wrote. "The pair of feet just so happened to be attached to a person, and that person was Christopher Wallace."

Upon being discovered, Wallace was promptly arrested on charges of burglary, theft and violation of conditions of release. A woman who lied and told the cops that Wallace wasn't home was also arrested for hindering apprehension. Oof.

In case any of you ambitious young individuals plan on growing up to become criminals, let this be a lesson to you. Don't brag about your illegal activities on social media, duh.
