How Coming Out Helped Ellen Page Reconnect With Fashion

Almost exactly a year ago, Ellen Page revealed to the world that she was gay. Her coming out speech was met with a standing ovation, and since then, she's been very open about how it totally changed her life for the better–even when it comes to fashion.

In the April issue of Vogue, Ellen opened up about her role as Julianne Moore's life partner in her new film Freeheld and explained how the entire coming out process affected her "on a cellular level."

“I used to feel this constant pressure to be more feminine; a quiet or sometimes not-so-quiet demand—’You need to wear a dress or people will think you’re gay.'” she explains “Now I feel a sense of freedom in dressing, and I’m enjoying it so much. I love wearing a Saint Laurent suit to an event,” says the actress, who also happily donned the menswear-inspired pieces at right for a spot of breakfast, “I mean, what a gift.”

Ellen's on-point brunch ensemble included a striped Equipment blouse, Tommy Hilfiger jeans and Rag & Bone fedora paired with her grown-out pixie cut and kohl-rimmed eyes. The full issue hits newsstands March 25.
