Eva Mendes really, really regrets that comment she made about sweatpants last week, dudes. In case you missed it, she shared some new mom fashion advice while visiting Extra and said, “You can’t do sweatpants. Ladies, number one cause of divorce in America, sweatpants, no!”

This joke apparently didn't sit well with lots of people because, hi, this is coming from a woman who just had a baby with America's Sweetheart, Ryan Gosling.

Ryan already tried to make amends (twice!) via Twitter, but apparently that wasn't enough, so Eva took to Instagram to personally apologize to the widely-beloved piece of clothing. She posted a pic of her pants and wrote: "Dear favorite pair of sweatpants. I was just kidding when I said you're the #1 cause of divorce. Everyone knows that orange crocs are the #1 cause of divorce. Either way it was a bad joke and feel terrible if you or anyone thought I was serious. Thanks for understanding sweatpants. Sorry orange crocs."

Welp, here's hoping Mario Batali never hears about this.
