There's Just One Thing 'Teen Wolf''s Stiles And Malia Will Never, Ever Do

Actress Shelley Hennig says it has to do with three not-so-simple words.

Saying "I love you" is exceedingly difficult. Saying "I love you" when you're a werecoyote and your boyfriend is the former host of a Japanese warlord's spirit is apparently doubly so.

"Teen Wolf"'s Stiles and Malia, whose relationship has been taking shape since they were both captives of Eichen House, have got something great going as boyfriend and girlfriend. Still, there are limits to their intimacy, Shelley Hennig recently told Entertainment Weekly, and for all the cute Stalia moments to which we've been treated, there's one place the couple just isn't willing (or, at least, ready) to go.

"I don’t think Stiles and Malia are the type to say ‘I love you,’ to have that sweet teen moment,'" Hennig said. "I don’t think that is a very Stiles and Malia thing. I think it’d be more like, ‘I hate you,’ but meaning, ‘I love you.' Malia’s a little more aggressive, and I don’t think she likes to show her vulnerability.”

And while Hennig sees Stalia pumping the brakes on the love front, she hopes her character and the Type A Lydia have a relationship breakthrough.

"I think they have a funny dynamic because [Lydia's] pretty put together,” Hennig said. “Of course, we’re all kind of insane, but she’s the complete opposite of Malia -- the way that they look, the way that they dress, their mannerisms. She’s a lot more ladylike and I think there could be some funny interactions between Malia and Lydia."
