On Sunday night, a disturbing video was leaked on the Internet, which found members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at the University of Oklahoma chanting ranting slurs, and the response to it has been swift.
The fraternity's chapter was immediately shut down on campus, several protests followed, and on Monday (Mar. 9), Waka Flocka Flame addressed the video on his Instagram account. The ATL rapper confirmed that he would be canceling an April 25 show at the school.
Waka found early success with trap hits, but his crossover into EDM (working with artists like Steve Aoki) brought him a whole new set of fans. And because of this, he seemed to be even more affected by the video.
In addition to the emotional note above, he also included a small caption, explaining that the entire student body shouldn't be blamed for this.
"SMFH.. I know for a fact the whole school and SAE don't agree with those kids actions so know that I'm not madd at the whole #SAE just those disgusting kids!!!!!!" he wrote. "#WFF We can't change history but we damn sure can create our own future #DeathToRacism."
