Cinderella's Prince Charmings, Ranked By Charmingness

Charmed, we're sure.

You've heard it since you were a little kid, that somewhere out there, there's a prince or princess waiting for you, your perfect match. In no story is this more evident than Cinderella, a fairy tale so classic that it's been retold time and time again -- and a prince so charming, that in many variations he's literally named Prince Charming.

In celebration of the release of the latest "Cinderella," directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James alongside Richard Madden (his prince is named Kit, if you were wondering), we decided to really decide, once and for all, the identity of the most charming prince. Check out our rankings, and let us know who you think needs to be sent to charm school in the comments.

  1. "Ever After"

"Certainly not, no," is just about the least charming thing you can say when someone asks you how in touch with the peasants you are, even if you are the crown prince of France. Also, when he finally gives in to being with Danielle (Drew Barrymore), he has kind of a gross explanation for it: "I used to think that if I cared about anything, I'd have to care about everything." Uh, get 'em?

  2. "Cinderella" (1950)

In the best-known telling of the classic fairy tale, Prince Charming has a bit of a "don't you know who I am" swagger and is really aggressive about getting Cindy to stay at the ball. Love the sparkling white jacket, don't love the 'tude.

  3. "A Cinderella Story"
    Warner Bros.

Chad Michael Murray, welcome to our hearts. Dude just wants to go to Princeton, play sports and be handsome -- but he's ensnared by a mean girlfriend for far too long. We're charmed by his "Sorry I waited for the rain" callback, but it took a little while for him to get there.

  4. "Cinderella" (1997)

Listen to Paolo Montalban sing "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful" and try not to be charmed. JUST TRY.

  5. "Ella Enchanted"

For the boy bander equivalent of a prince, "Ella Enchanted"'s Char (Hugh Dancy) has actual substance and charm. He sings and dances with the best of 'em ("the best of 'em" meaning Anne Hathaway in this case) and really handled that giant relations case well. Snaps.

  6. "Cinderella" (2015)

    1. His name is Kit. (Aww.) 2. He's totally charmed by Ella right away and forms policy around it. 3. He's a total daddy's boy. 4. He doesn't give Ella up without a fight.

    Consider us charmed.

"Cinderella" hits theaters March 13.
