Want To Get Rich Quick? Become A Cosmetic Surgeon For Butts

Expect to see more belfies in your feeds ... and not just from women.

2014 will forever be remembered as the Year of the Booty, thanks to Beyonce (remember this?), Nicki Minaj (remember this?), J. Lo (remember this?), Kim Kardashian (remember this?) and Instagram stars like Jen Selter (remember this?).

And now that's backed up by hard data: 2014 was a record-setting year for butt implants. In fact, all forms of butt-related cosmetic surgery spiked last year.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, there were 1,863 butt implants (a 98% increase from 2013!), 3,505 butt lifts (a 44% increase) and 11,505 buttock augmentations, which is a 15% increase from 2013, following a 16% rise over 2012. It's a ballooning industry!

None of this is shocking. Butt surgery has a storied history, after all, and "belfie" is an accepted social media term/flourishing art form at this point.

And perhaps expect men to join in on this booty bump. ASPS told MTV News that they haven't yet broken down these stats by gender, but there's a growing acceptance of cosmetic procedures for guys, so it's plausible that men influenced the numbers. You heard it here first: 2015 may be the Year of Male Belfies. (And no, we don't mean beard selfies.)
