Carly Rae Jepsen's New Single Is Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Good

The Canadian singer gets decisive on '80s-throwback 'I Really Like You.'

As much as I tried to deny the power of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" upon first listen, my resistance proved futile. I was no match for such pop perfection. That's why I'm lowering my defenses now in the face of her new single, "I Really Like You" -- why fight when giving in feels so much better?

The song, which hit iTunes just before midnight Sunday (Mar. 1), has an '80s-throwback sound to it, much like a lot of the tracks on Jepsen's totally underrated 2012 album, Kiss. Imagine if Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" and Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know" went tumbling down a rabbit hole lined with electronic drum pads. Or I guess you could just listen to the iTunes preview. Up to you.

While not a whole lot is known about Carly's upcoming album, we do know that she's enlisted some impressive songwriters and producers to follow her into the studio like Dev Hynes, Ariel Rechtshaid, Tegan & Sara, and Jack Antonoff.

Be on the lookout for the "I Really Like You" video, which stars Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber and will likely take over your life from the moment it drops until, like, August? September?
