Shawn Mendes Wants You To ‘Never Be Alone’ In New Music Video: Watch

The track is from the singer's debut album, 'Handwritten,' out April 28.

Shawn Mendes shares his sweet and sensitive side in the new music video for “Never Be Alone,” which premiered on Wednesday (February 25).

In the clip, the 16-year-old writes song lyrics in a journal as a girl wanders through a picturesque landscape, making her way to him. He sings, “Take a piece of my heart and make it all your own/So when we apart, you’ll never be alone” against an arrangement of piano, strings, and acoustic guitars.

The song has a super folksy vibe to it — heavily recalling Phillip Phillips and Ed Sheeran — and eventually builds into a soaring crescendo as Shawn shows off his impressive vocal range.

Shawn revealed on Twitter that the video is just the first in a series of clips slated for release in conjunction with his debut album Handwritten, out April 28.

Besides his album drop, the esteemed member of MTV’s Artist To Watch class of 2015 has some huge things in store this spring. He’ll be headlining his own tour in April and opening for Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour shortly after that.
