Taylor Swift Continues To Shower Her Love Upon New York City

The generous star has made a huge donation to the city's public schools.

Taylor Swift’s love affair with New York City is definitely no secret — the girl’s practically a modern-day Carrie Bradshaw, commanding the streets of her adopted hometown with her do-gooder attitude and flawless “Style.”

In case you had any doubt about Tay’s devotion to NYC, officials at the New York Department of Education revealed Tuesday (Feb. 24) that the 25-year-old has gifted a whopping $50,000 donation that will benefit the city’s public schools.

The proceeds were taken directly from the sales of Tay’s 1989 album opener “Welcome to New York,” released last October. And according to E! News, this isn’t just a one-time donation — Taylor reportedly plans to continue donating all proceeds from the single.

“We’re deeply appreciative of this kind gesture to donate her proceeds of the single ‘Welcome to New York’ to benefit NYC public schools,” said Devora Kyle, the press secretary for the department of education.

Since shacking up in the city’s SoHo neighborhood last May, Taylor’s been an outspoken admirer of NYC. “New York was a huge landscape for what became this album. It’s affected my life in ways I’m not even aware of yet fully,” Taylor said. “I’m so enthusiastic about this city that I feel like, when I love something, I’m very vocal about it, I’m vocal about it with my music. I just go around like, ‘Everybody! New York is amazing!’”

Taylor’s generosity to ensure the continued education of New York’s youth is definitely an awesome move from the city’s official welcome ambassador. And now that Beyonce and Jay Z have jetted off to the warmer left coast, she’s basically cemented her position as NYC’s reigning queen.
