Six talented young filmmakers had a unique view of last night's Academy Awards: they were Team Oscar, the group presenting the statuettes to presenters before they took the stage and passed the awards on to the night's big winners.
Chris Carmona, Justin Craig, Kelly FitzGerald, Justin Floyd, Rhianna Shaheen and Patrick Walker got to walk the red carpet Sunday night alongside the stars they would brush shoulders with backstage.
MTV News caught up with the group, who were selected for the honor by winning a contest in which they made a 60-second short film about the best advice they had ever received.
FitzGerald spoke for the group when she called the opportunity "a dream come true."
"I follow Channing Tatum on Instagram, so that's how I found out," she said. "My video is about sharing a smile."
She and her cohort even got the chance to meet Tatum before the show (he presented them onstage during the ceremony as well, calling them the future of the Oscars).
"It was awesome," she said. "He just kind of ran in, like, 'yo, what's up?'"
Fellow Team Oscar member Justin Floyd added: "He smelled good."
