The 2015 Oscars were a pleasant surprise, fashion-wise. Instead of the usual pageantry, there were more interesting cuts, eyebrow-raising accessories, and less conventional fabric (see: queen Lupita Nyong'o). Likewise, the after-parties had a lot of exciting and unexpected looks to take in.
Here are our faves from the after-parties:
Solange and Beyonce KnowlesGetty Images
If it wasn't evident enough at Solange's wedding, it is now a fact that no one on Earth can wear an all-white look as well as the singer and her big sister Beyonce. Another fact? No one looks as much fun while wearing the look as the Knowles sisters. Seriously, if someone dressed me in all-white I would stain it before I even exited the car—and, if by some miracle that didn't happen, I'd just spend the rest of the night worrying about the inevitable. But Bey and Solange are clearly pros. *Matching lob hair flip*
Lady GagaGetty Images
Lady Gaga's first look of the night—her custom Azzedine Alaïa, complete with fancy dish washing gloves—might have been divisive, but her gown for Vanity Fair's after-party was a knockout. Gaga went red carpet goth, opting for a sheer black dress (and a matching dark lip) with a long train. Unlike her other Alaïa dresses from the evening, this one looked super comfortable—and that showed in how well she wore it.
Margot RobbieGetty Images
At this point, it seems like there is no style that Margot Robbie can't make sexy. Floor length black with long sleeves? Check. Vertical Beetlejuice stripes with a teeny solid empire waist? Check. The actress truly stunned in this optic creation.
Gigi HadidGetty Images
Just like a painting (or a really intricate tattoo), you could stare for hours at Gigi Hadid's dress. I've been gazing at it for 10 minutes, and I still don't quite understand how it's being held up. But that is the power of the young starlet's modeling skills. Gigi isn't even an actress, yet on Hollywood's biggest night, she still stole the red carpet.
Emma StoneGetty Images
Emma Stone can do no wrong. For the awards show, she was glittering from head to toe in Elie Saab. She went in a completely opposite direction for the after-party, wearing a more frilly creation, but looked just as stunning. Not everyone can pull off that neckline, but Emma makes it look easy.
Rashida JonesGetty Images
It's always a bold move to opt for a print on the red carpet, especially for an Oscars after-party, but the risk paid off last night for Rashida Jones. She not only looked fresher than anyone else (heh), she also looked like she was having hella fun.
Chloe Grace MoretzGetty Images
Only Chloe Grace Moretz could make an all-black outfit look cheerful. The young actress gave a lesson in monotone dressing and playing with proportion with her belted bell-sleeved dress. She showed just the right amount of skin in the sheer off-the-shoulder number and still stayed age appropriate.
Selena GomezGetty Images
Hailee SteinfeldGetty Images
Haile Steinfeld continues to be wiser and better-dressed than anyone else in her age group (and most above it). Just look at her SLAYING in this floor-length kaleidoscopic gown. The dark lip really puts the look over the edge.
Karlie KlossGetty Images
This is why Karlie Kloss is one of the most popular models on the planet: she can take a Little Black Dress and make it look anything but ordinary. She's practically floating in this sparkly gown—at least that would explain how she's able to stay standing in those pointy toe stilettos. WERK.
Lupita Nyong'oGetty Images
Lupita, Lupita, Lupita, you are still the brightest gem of Oscars Night—even when you're not actually wearing 6,000 of them. At the Vanity Fair after-party, Lupita shined even brighter in a strapless gold gown. With her poise and grace, she wore the heavy-looking number like a second skin. Not to mention, she also looked like an Oscar statue. This look deserves all the awards.
Robert PattinsonGetty Images
Blue suits were the unspoken MVP of the night, at least as far as men's fashion goes. But while Jared Leto tried out for prom king with his powder blue one, Robert Pattinson went for a much more mature look with his navy tux. And, boy, was it working for him. Even with his hair disheveled and looking like he just got off a red-eye, R. Pattz looks like a million bucks in this blue suit.
Natalie PortmanGetty Images
Just like Beyonce and Solange, Natalie Portman has a gift for pulling off the all-white gown. The actress not only looked cozy in these long sleeves (it was raining in LA last night!), she was also super sleek. Her mini train pretty much summed up her look: stylish but low-maintenance.
