Justin Timberlake Totally Co-Signs This Electro-Pop Cover Of 'Cry Me A River'

Watch CHVRCHES lend their touch to the Justified classic.

Can we take a second to acknowledge the holy existence of BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, which has been straight-up killin’ it lately? Whether it’s Hozier covering Ariana Grande, Lorde taking on Jeremih, or FKA twigs slaying Sam Smith, artists are always on their A-game when they pop into the Lounge for a cover session.

And now, we've been blessed with Scottish electronic trio CHVRCHES’ killer rendition of “Cry Me A River.” Yep, as in Justin Timberlake’s classic 2002 breakup ode to Britney Spears.

As lead singer Lauren Mayberry nails the high notes, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty unleash a wave of brooding synths behind her, giving the Timbaland-produced R&B track a killer electro-pop flair.

Even JT saw the gorgeous cover and gave it his kiss of approval, retweeting the video to his followers.

After making their debut with 2013’s stellar The Bones of What You Believe, CHVRCHES is currently working on their as yet untitled sophomore album, which we kiiiiinda now hope includes a studio version of this track.

Do you think CHVRCHES did JT’s tune justice? Sound off in the comments below.
