As millions upon millions of you already know by now, Irish actor Jamie Dornan won the highly coveted role of Christian in "Fifty Shades of Grey." He used ropes, ties, and floggers to alternately bring pleasure and pain to Anastasia (Dakota Johnson), which doesn't necessarily sound not awkward from a production standpoint. And according to "General Hospital" star Ryan Paevey, who also auditioned for the role, the audition process was just as challenging -- but not necessarily for the reasons you would think.
"I did read for Christian Grey," Paevey told the ladies of "The View" on Tuesday (February 17). "[It was] about how you'd think. You know, I think I have a little bit more respect for women than Christian did, so it's kind of a step outside of my shoes. If you know the character a little bit, it's rough. It's rough. My hat's off to Jamie for going there."
As for the audition process itself, Paevey noted that it was pretty much standard -- minus the sex part, of course.
"Phase one, you're dressed," he explained. "When you walk in, you're dressed. Phase two, you sit in a long line in a hallway with a bunch of strangers, everybody knowing that one of us is going to molest [another] one of us in about five minutes or so. Then you walk in and they have some lines, and she says something about how she wants to introduce herself to me, and I don't want to hear it."
... And then "she" -- the actress auditioning for Anastasia -- removed his clothes!
"I did [take off my clothes]," Paevey said with a laugh. "But I don't do it, she does it."
