Shay Mitchell Tells Us Why She Thinks Emily Should Be Single On 'Pretty Little Liars'

More like Emily (plays the) Fields, amirite?

Emily Fields has a long list of ex-lovers in Rosewood, which is exactly why Shay Mitchell thinks it's time Em changed her relationship status to single.

"I think Emily needs to cool it for a minute because she's had a revolving door of relationships," Mitchell told MTV News while promoting her latest project with SweeTARTS Ropes. "She could stand to have a couple moments to herself for once."

A little alone time would probably do Emily some good. In the most recent episode of "Pretty Little Liars" Em found out her new fling Talia was married. And even though an estranged marriage is a huge secret to keep from your new girlfriend, Emily has secrets of her own -- ones that she seems content to keep to herself for the time being. But is a relationship built out of secrets and lies destined for a happily ever after?

"It's a new relationship, and Talia is new to Rosewood, so there's definitely a mysterious element to it all," Mitchell said. "It could develop into something more romantic, or maybe it's more of a friendship. Emily could really use someone in her life who isn't wrapped up in the 'A' drama. So it's nice for her to talk to Talia about things other than jail and murder [laughs]. I think that's why she was so drawn to her."

Given Emily's recent heartbreak -- we're looking at you, Paige -- it's nice to see this Liar smile again. "Now I feel like Emily knows what she wants," Mitchell told us. "And she's not afraid to tell you." Luckily for Emily, her new aerobic endeavor with Hanna (Ashley Benson) will get her mind off girls for a bit.

As for Mitchell's own love life, she's content playing matchmaker for other people. Mitchell, a self-proclaimed "Bachelor" fanatic, recently got the chance to play Chris Harrison for a day when she hosted SweeTARTS Ropes' "Get Roped In," a dating show that will air on Twitter at the end of February.

"It was kind of fun to get to play cupid for a minute," the "Pretty Little Liars" star said. "For this 'Get Roped In' dating show we basically gave YouTube fans the opportunity to go on a group date with their favorite YouTube stars, and it will be interesting to see if there any feelings develop from the people we paired together."

But don't expect to see Mitchell on a dating show anytime soon. She's embracing her inner Taylor Swift and loving the single life. "I'm actually quite good right now, hanging out with my friends and meeting new people," she said. "But I'll never say never!"
