How Many Dates Do You Go On Before Having Sex? There's Now An Exact Answer

A global survey of 11,000 people finally answered the question.

As long as dating has been an institution on the modern path to romance, one question has been plaguing men and women: How many dates before we can start humping? Well Time Out did a massive dating survey of over 11,000 people in 24 cities across the globe, and it found the number of dates before it's reasonable to expect sex is a-one, a-two, a-three. 3.53, to be exact.

3.53 Dates? Yep.

And in keeping with that result, only 1 in 10 people think it's normal to expect sex at the end of the first date. So while the older members of society may be decrying the "loose morals" of this current generation, it turns out we show some restraint in this department.

The survey provides all kinds of insights on the dating gauntlet, and the way it has changed in the digital world. 60% of respondents worldwide said online dating/apps is the best way to date. In fact, Paris was the only city that rated actual human interaction as a more popular method. Perhaps not coincidentally, Paris was found to have the best dating scene.

Meanwhile, New York had the least happy daters, and was described as a "warzone" by women. But you can find solace in the sheer efficiency of the modern dater. A plurality of people worldwide (41%) said they can tell within the first 2-3 minutes of a first date if they want to see that person for a second date.

No need to waste any time on the road to 3.53 dates. See all the results here.
