Iggy Azalea was nominated for four awards at the 2015 Grammys, and while she even seemed to be bracing herself for backlash if she won in the big rap category, the Australian rapper actually went home empty handed.
Early in the night the hip-hop awards were distributed before the show aired and Iggy lost Best Rap Album to Grammy favorite Eminem, who won for The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
Best New Artist is always one of the most coveted awards of the year, but Iggy also got shut out in that category by Grammy sweetheart Sam Smith, who picked up the most trophies last night.
The 24-year-old was gracious in her loss though, telling Sam Smith on Instagram, “Had an awesome time at the Grammys and congratulations Sam!!! I couldn’t be happier to have lost to someone as talented and deserving as you. Hahaha Love ya!”
"Fancy" earned her nominations for both Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Record of the Year, but although the song got her major radio play, and several awards show performances during the year, she came up short in those categories as well.
Dont worry Iggy, there's always next year.
