"The following takes place in one day in three different countries: Croatia, Northern Ireland and Spain."
That's not the opening title card of a new, international season of "24," believe it or not. It's how the new documentary "Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life" begins. HBO aired the 26-minute doc over the weekend, and here it is, online and available for your viewing pleasure:
The documentary focuses on a single day in the lives of the producers, cameramen, location scouts and other assorted behind-the-scenes wizards and warriors responsible for bringing "Game of Thrones" to life. While it doesn't reveal too much about what's in store for season five, it's a great look at how this show comes together…
…and, okay, sure, there are a few things to geek out about, like the revelation of Hardhome, a north-of-the-Wall location that book fans are eagerly anticipating; the contrast between mild-mannered Emilia Clarke and the iron-fisted Daenerys Targaryen; a first-look at Dorne, which is shooting in Spain; and the tremendous abuse creator David Benioff unleashes upon Cersei Lannister actress Lena Headey.
It's a fantastic look at how the sausage gets made on one of the most ambitious shows in television history. Check it out, while we wait for winter to hit in earnest on April 12.
