These 6 'Walking Dead' Characters Just Returned From The Dead, And Not As Zombies

First zombies, now ghosts?

Warning: "Walking Dead" Spoilers Ahead!

Last night's midseason premiere of "The Walking Dead" was a rough one, as yet another beloved character bit the dust. But in losing that character, "Walking Dead" provided its most surreal moment in five seasons of zombie mayhem. Here's what happened:

  1. It starts with Tyreese.
    AMC

The hammering hero with a heart of gold finally meets his maker, thanks to a walker bite to the arm.

  2. In the final moments of his life…
    AMC

He begins seeing ghosts from the past, such as…

  3. Martin from Terminus!
    AMC

Known to some as "the cabin douche," the gum-gnashing bully visits Tyreese in his final moments for little reason beyond saying, "Ha-ha, told you so!"

  4. And look! Bob Stookey!
    AMC

Severed leg and all! Bob is the flip-side of Martin's coin, saying that no matter what, Tyreese was always heading toward this moment; no harm, no foul.

  5. The Governor! What is even happening?
    AMC

One-eyed Philip Blake returns from the grave to tell Tyreese that he must "pay the bill," whatever that means.

  6. He sure seems angry.
    AMC
  7. More friendly faces!
    AMC

Beth! Lizzie! Mika! Forget the Governor, these are the happy people you want to see in your final few minutes on Earth.

  8. Lizzie seems normal now!
    AMC

She's even holding out a helping hand!

  9. Wait a minute…
    AMC

    …that's not Lizzie!

  10. Oh god!
    AMC

    That escalated quickly!

  11. Don't worry about the arm, Ty.
    AMC

You're on your way out anyway.
