It's nine days until the much-anticipated release of "Fifty Shades of Grey," and we can barely wait. The day is nigh, and we've been preparing our bodies for weeks. One essential step: buying tickets. After all, you don't want to be that chump who waits until the day of and faces a fate more agonizing (and much less fun) than the Red Room of Pain: the dreaded "sold out" sign.
As it turns out, some are more prepared than others. Namely, moviegoers in the state of Mississippi are the most ready for the celebration day of Our Lord and Lady Christian and Ana, according to Fandango.
The wizards at the online ticketing site worked their magic to find which states had exceeded ticket sales expectations for the movie already, noting in a release that the movie is the fastest-selling rated R movie in Fandango's 15-year history, and that on Tuesday, pre-sales for the movie accounted for nearly 60 percent of all of the site's sales.
Mississippi (or should we say MiXXiXXippi?) can't effing wait to see "Fifty," buying up 3.9 times as many tickets as expected. Arkansas follows, with 2.8 times more, with West Virginia hot on their heels at number three with 2.7 times. Kentucky, Alabama, Louisiana, North Dakota, South Carolina, Iowa and Tennessee round out the top 10 list, in that order.
Guess it's not called the Dirty South for nothing, is it?
"Fifty Shades of Grey" hits theaters February 13.
