Ciara’s lyrics about heartbreak take center stage in an acoustic new video for her latest track, “I Bet.”
In the black and white clip, the Atlanta native bares her raw emotions as she sings while seated in a chair -- no dancing, no elaborate choreography -- in the studio, flanked by three background singers, a guitarist and a pianist.
“I bet you start loving me, as soon as I start loving someone else, somebody better than you,” she sings.
Judging by the cathartic lyrics, it’s easy to assume that the Harmony Samuels-produced song is about her ex-fiancé, Future.
“As a songwriter, I always pull from my life experiences as well as the experiences shared by others,” she told People. “It is important to me that my music feels real.”
“I Bet” is the first official single off Ciara’s sixth LP, Jackie.
