In just a crazy short amount of time, Meghan Trainor has basically managed to dominate the pop music scene. She’s topped the Billboard charts, been nominated for two Grammys, and even penned a song with the one and only Harry Styles.
But she is SO not done yet, and it sounds like the super-talented songstress may be cooking up a collaboration we thought only existed in our dreams.
In a revealing new interview, Meghan dished that she and angel-voiced Sam Smith have discussed working together.
“Yes, we already talked about it. I was like ‘Bro, we’re writing together.’ He was like, ‘I’d love to,’” she spilled.

Turns out, Sam has been jamming out to one of Meghan’s recently-written tracks. “He’s a big fan of ‘Sledgehammer’, a song I wrote for Fifth Harmony, and he didn’t know I wrote it for them,” she revealed. “I was like ‘Yo, I wrote that,’ and he was like, ‘What?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m a writer.’”
So what kind of track would they whip up together? “I don’t know because I love his dancey stuff but I also love the throwback stuff, which is what I do too,” she said. “I want to do a good mix in between, something with a rhythm that you could dance to, but very musical.”
Girl, we are so on board with this.
Even though Meghan and Sam are pitted against each other at the Grammys — where they’re both nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year — Meghan insists she’d love if the “Stay With Me” crooner nabbed the trophy.
“If I don’t win those I want him to win those. I want him up there, I love him so much,” she gushed.
Aww, it’s official: these two NEED to work their magic and grace our ears with an amazing collab, pronto.
