When "The Fosters" picks up after a way too long break on Monday (January 19), it will bring us back to where we left off in August -- to that fateful kiss between Brandon (David Lambert) and Callie (Maia Mitchell) at the Girls United party. (Yes, yes, we acknowledge the Christmas special -- but the real aftermath of this kiss is yet to be felt. Let's be honest.)
So when MTV News caught up with Mitchell ahead of the winter season premiere, we just had to ask her if things between Callie and her lovestruck foster brother would work out -- and if Mitchell and her real-life friend Lambert ever find it strange to play kissing (foster) siblings.
"I think David and I just see it for what it is -- Callie and Brandon have this really strong connection," Mitchell said. "They're always going to have that, they just have to really be quite mature about how to channel that... We do make jokes about it."
All joking aside though, Mitchell did say that Brandon and Callie were never going to become proper siblings like Callie has with Mariana or Jesus... but what that actually means for them remains unseen.
"I don't think they're ever going to have a brother and sister relationship," she added. "I don't think they're ever going to call each other brother and sister, because there's just too much history. They're also older, and they'll be out of the house soon. There is room to have a separate relationship... But whether they'll have a romantic relationship, I'm not sure."
What she is sure of, however, is that the loud and proud "Brallie" shippers will let her know if they're not happy with the writers' decisions.
"We're very accountable on Twitter, definitely," she said with a laugh. "We hear all about it when people are unhappy."
