Is Calling Jennifer Lawrence Curvy Bad For Plus-Sized Girls? This Model Thinks So

Ashley Graham raises an interesting questions about JLaw's "curvy" image.

Though this year's A-List Oscar darling is Emma Stone, it's undeniable that the media loves to heap loads of praise on Jennifer Lawrence for everything from her off-the-cuff humor to her love of fast food. However, model Ashley Graham told The Edit that there's one thing we should stop praising JLaw for -- her curves. Because in reality, the "Hunger Games" star is not exactly a poster child for curvy women.

“Young girls [with curves] don’t have much to look at, curvy women are not on covers of magazines, they’re not talked about on social media as much as other celebrities," Graham, who is a size 14, told the mag. "Jennifer Lawrence is the media’s poster girl for curves -- she’s tiny!”

Of course Graham wasn't insulting JLaw at all, as she really has no control over what body parts of hers the media chooses to focus on. But in a country where the most common size for a woman is a 14, it's definitely curious that the very slender Katniss Everdeen has been heralded as its pro-curves victor, and Graham's argument is definitely solid.

For example, this is Graham, who is the average American size:

And this is JLaw, who is several dress sizes smaller than the average American size, yet is being tossed about as the last bastion for normal-sized women:

See how this might be a bit confusing to younger, actually curvy girls? Yeah, Graham does, too.

However, regardless of what Graham thinks regarding JLaw's "curvy girl" public image, she should definitely embrace the actress' self-love habits, and staunch refusal to diet.

“I think that you can be healthy at any size and my goal is to help and educate women on that,” Graham said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a size two or 22, as long as you’re taking care of your body, working out, and telling yourself ‘I love you’ instead of taking in the negativity of beauty standards."

Preach, girl. Preach.
