The Weeknd Arrested For Allegedly Punching A Police Officer In Las Vegas

The incident reportedly occurred on Jan. 10.

The Weeknd was reportedly arrested Saturday (January 10) in Las Vegas for allegedly punching a police officer.

TMZ reports that law enforcement officials arrived at boutique luxury hotel The Cromwell at approximately 4:20 a.m. in response to a fight that The Weekend, a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye, was apparently involved in. According to Billboard, it is unclear whether the fight was verbal or physical.

In an attempt to separate the parties involved in the altercation, a police officer pulled Tesfaye into an elevator. Officials say that the "Love Me Harder" singer punched the officer on the side of the head in the process.

Tesfaye was arrested for misdemeanor battery of a protected person.

While the singer has not released a statement on the matter, he posted a photo on Instagram of himself walking towards a private jet on Sunday night. The post’s caption: “Escaped from Las Vegas.”
