Nicki Minaj Sends Love To Nigeria In The Wake Of Latest Massacre

Over 2,000 civilians have been killed since the new year.

This past weekend, an historic number of people -- over three million -- flooded the streets of Paris in protest of terrorist attacks on satirical French paper Charlie Hebdo, which left 12 people dead. But in Nigeria, a terrorist attack that took the lives of over 2,000 people received much less coverage.

On Monday (Jan. 12), Nicki Minaj sent out one simple tweet, to remind -- or rather, alert -- her fans about what has been going on in Nigeria.

The Islamic extremist group Boko Haram carried out one of their deadliest raids to date over the weekend of Jan. 3, killing over 2,000 civilians near the town of Baga. The group is responsible for kidnapping more than 200 girls back in April, and new reports reveal that they have been using female suicide bombers in their recent attacks.

One of the latest suicide bombings, which took place in the village of Maidugury, was carried out by a young woman, who officials are placing between the ages of 10 and 20.
