'Pan's Labyrinth' Star Lands Role On MTV's 'Shannara'

Ivana Baquero will portray Eretria in the upcoming series.

Get excited, fangirls and fanboys: There's a new addition to the cast of "Shannara"!

Ivana Baquero is set to star in MTV's highly anticipated adaptation of author Terry Brooks' best-selling fantasy series; it follows the story of the Shannara family, who must start a new life after their civilization is destroyed in an apocalyptic battle.

The Barcelona native will portray Eretria, a human raised by a band of thieves known as the Rovers. Hailing from the wrong side of the tracks, Eretria uses her beauty and brains to survive in her newfound, rough-and-tumble world and, in the process, forms a connection with half-human/half-elf Wil Ohmsford (Austin Butler) as he tries to save the Four Lands.

No, this isn't a joke: Austin Butler is also starring in the show. Did we mention Manu Bennett, as well? And, no, you're not the only one FREAKING OUT. We're right there with ya. But we digress.

Before joining "Shannara," Ivana graced the big screen in 2006's "Pan's Labyrinth," playing the lead part of protagonist Ofelia. She's also had roles in the Spanish film "El Club de los Incomprendidos" and the Portuguese fantasy love story "Gelo."
