Here's How Tough Mudder, The Sadistic Obstacle Race, Just Got More Sadistic

Electric shocks are so 2014.

Those who've participated in Tough Mudder pride themselves on gleefully overcoming extreme challenges -- such as barbed wire, frigid water, electric currents, and, of course, impossibly thick mud. And in 2015, they'll have something new to enjoy...

Tear gas. They'll pay good money to get tear gassed at a new station called "Cry Baby," a tent billowing with the stuff.

OK, it's not the same tear gas that police use, but a more benign formula. It still feels like "having Sriracha poured into every one of our tiny cuts and abrasions," according to a Sports Illustrated reporter who tested out the new course. Who's excited?!

While the Tough Mudder organizers haven't revealed what exactly goes into their new concoction, lead obstacle designer Nolan Kombol and other executives will announce all the additions to the course on January 13 in Brooklyn, DNA Info reports. There are over 50 Tough Mudder events on tap across the globe this year.

In the meantime, check out MTV News' Ryan McKee representing "Guy Code" (which returns to MTV2 for season 5 on Wednesday, January 14) at Tough Mudder in 2012:
