When DMX was at the top of the game in the late 1990s and early 2000s, he was dropping hit albums and appearing on the big screen. Now he's mounting a comeback of sorts, it seems.
Last month, he appeared in "Top Five," the new movie starring Chris Rock. And on Tuesday (Jan. 6), we got news of his next musical move, and it's coming sooner than you'd imagine.
Like, next week soon.
The Yonkers native's eighth solo album, Redemption of the Beast, is reportedly set to hit stores next Tuesday, January 13. The project will showcase "X’s signature heavy-hitting, fast-paced lyrics, classic Ruff Ryder beats, and moments of reflection on his experience in the rap game,” according to a press release.
Signature X? Sounds good to me.
Though there's no mention of Swizz Beatz or his involvement in the press release, during a 2013 episode of "RapFix Live," the producer told MTV News that he was focusing on a new project with X. “Everything is DMX for me right now,” he said. “It’s my main focus because it’s what started everything. So, if I don’t focus on that, then it’s just not right.”
The 16-track release, which follows up his 2012 album Undisputed, is available for pre-order now.
Until it drops, though, let's take it back.
