Eminem Is Being Sued Over 'Rap God'

Do you hear the similarity in these songs?

Eminem is facing a lawsuit over his 2013 hit single “Rap God.

Raymond Jones, a member of the Chicago rap group Hotstylz alleges that Shady lifted a sample of their record “Lookin Boy” for a portion of his song, which appeared on The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

According to TMZ, Jones is seeking $8 million in the lawsuit, which targets both Eminem and his label Interscope Records.

Sections of both songs are compared side-by-side in the video below.

Using another rapper's flow isn't exactly rare in hip-hop, but not every instance ends in a lawsuit. Although it sounds like Eminem was inspired by the "Lookin Boy" flow, he doesn't actually use the song's exact lyrics on "Rap God."

In comparison, on Chris Brown's "Loyal" French Montana uses both Ma$e and Biggie's flows and lyrics, so both artists are given writing credit on the song to avoid legal issues.

Do you think the Chicago rappers have a strong case here?

Below, Eminem explains to MTV News that "Rap God" took six minutes to write.
