When you've got Sam Smith and his chest hair on a magazine cover, the bar is set real high for following that up. But V Magazine has delivered with three alternate covers, styling equally on fleek. For their annual music issue, the magazine is giving props to some of their (and our) favorite emerging artists from the past year, FKA Twigs, Jessie Ware, and Tinashe. Let's just say that after seeing their covers, you won't be forgetting their names anytime soon.
For one, they'll probably be burned into memory, along with these images. FKA Twigs, to start, has one of the more unforgettable covers in recent memory. Styled by Karen Clarkson, her longtime collaborator who's responsible for Twigs' FADER cover and spread among other projects. Twigs is flexing—in every sense of the word—her dancer body. Like, every one of her muscles is visible. Oh yeah, and she's also topless with strategic layered necklaces. As for her beauty look, Twigs stepped up her braid game once again with this pom pom look, which, good luck to anyone else trying to pull it off.
Tinashe went with an equally, uh, eye-popping look. For her cover, the L.A. R&B singer, styled by Rihanna's longtime aesthetic partner Mel Ottenberg, wore a pair of leather hot pants and a big furry hat, a trend V set in motion last year with their music issue—that they're all about hair.
Jessie Ware also showed off some masterfully done tresses in her cover. The UK vocal powerhouse went with a darker look—eyeshadow and leather jacket—that's a nice refresher from her usual classic style.
