Well, 2015 isn't off to such a great start for Selena Gomez, who has found herself in the middle of a controversy in Abu Dhabi.
TMZ reports that the singer visited one the city's most historic mosques, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, with a group of friends—including the likes of Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Cody Simpson, and Shay Mitchell—and posted pictures of the visit on her Instagram.
The problem? In the shot Selena is showing a fair amount of ankle, and since the mosque is a holy place, it's inappropriate that she be showing any skin.
It's also considered disrespectful to be laughing and smiling, or posing in the alleged "sexy" way that she is in one of the photos that TMZ reports was posted to Instagram:
But this photo is not currently on Selena's Instagram, meaning the singer probably removed it.
Despite this, Selena's remaining Instagram post of her and her friends is flooded with angry comments from people who are offended by the photo.
This isn't the first time a celebrity visiting Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque has caused a stir. When Rihanna visited back in fall of 2013 she was asked to leave because the pictures she posted were also deemed too racy for the mosque's standards.
