Shortly after "Challenge" competitor Diem Brown's tragic death at the age of 34 in November, her former boyfriend Chris "CT" Tamburello poignantly paid tribute to the woman he called the "love of his life." But before the fan favorite's passing, the charming Southerner and the always-tough Bostonian entered chartered territory as they vied for the top prize on "Battle Of the Exes 2" -- which is now dedicated to the memory of Diem as well as fellow competitor Ryan Knight.
For a trip down memory lane, the two reminisced about the sparks that flew between them during their time on "The Duel" in 2006. So what were their first impressions of each other?
"I think when CT originally met me, he was thinking I was very mysterious," Diem reveals in the "He Said/She Said" video below about the beginning of their "Beauty and the Beast"-esque romance. But that's not quite how the "Real World: Paris" alum remembers things.
"I think mostly what she was thinking was, 'Okay, I met this guy,'" CT slyly explains as Diem smirks by his side. "'He's kind of cute. You know I was going through a lot. I know he's not going to be good for me.'"
As we know, the couple had several on-again off-again status changes over the years, and they both have different opinions (unsurprisingly) on why things ended the first time.
"From his point of view, why things went south was definitely [because] he believed that I was career-first driven," Diem explains. "And believed that I failed him when he needed me the most."
But they've been down this road before -- and came thisclose to snagging first place on "BOTE" -- so how confident do they feel together as a team? Watch the video, and be sure to tune in to the "Battle of the Exes 2" premiere on January 6 at 11/10c!
