Today in news that made our small, dessicated, grinchy hearts grow several hundred sizes at once: Chris Evans took some time between Christmas and New Year's to make a special holiday visit to a young fan battling cancer, surprising the boy at a medical housing center in Boston.
Evans, who is sporting a very un-Captain-America lumberjack beard in his off time from filming Marvel movies, spent some time with 9 year-old Kenny Bottins, who is living at Christopher's Haven while undergoing treatment for brain cancer. Although he didn't come in costume as the star-spangled man with a plan, Chris obviously made Kenny's day (and allowed himself to be tied to a chair by his young fan, which is closer than Hydra has ever come to capturing/containing the Cap.)
The "Avengers" star is hanging out in his hometown of Sudbury, Massachusetts this week, and headed for Boston this weekend for a special event to raise money for Christopher's Haven.
"It’s their strength that gives me strength. No matter what hurdles are in my life it’s nothing compared to what these families go through, so any way I can bring a smile it’s worth it," Evans told local CBS affiliate WBZ.
WBZ also captured a video of Evans' visit with Kenny. Beware: It is aggressively heartwarming.
