Pharrell Compares The New N.E.R.D. Song To The Beatles: Listen To 'Squeeze Me'

The song will be featured on the soundtrack for the new 'SpongeBob SquarePants' movie coming in February.

Pharrell has been on a bit of a children's music tear of late, scoring the family-friendly flick "Despicable Me 2" -- which included the break-out, omnipresent hit "Happy." Now, he's gotten N.E.R.D back together to contribute to another kid-centric film, this time for the new SpongeBob Squarepants movie: "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water."

Teaming with his longtime production partner Chad Hugo and Shay Haley, Skateboard P compared their contribution "Squeeze Me" to The Beatles' classic psychedelic song "Yellow Submarine."

“We’re trying not to think too much in a cartoon sense, but more just like a psychedelic, otherworldy type of thing," Pharrell told Variety. "If you want to draw a parallel, maybe think of what the Beatles did with 'Yellow Submarine.'"

It's a bouncy track with brass backing and leans back toward the early N.E.R.D. sound with some carefree, casually rapped verses and a sample of kid voices cheering "yeah!" along with the beat.

Though it has yet to be officially released, the song has surfaced online, and you can stream it below:

"The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" will be released on Feb. 6, 2015.
