After several seasons of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" (plus spinoff shows), Kim Kardashian and her family have become global stars, and along the way they've established deep ties with hip-hop. Kim, of course, is married to Kanye West (undoubtedly one of the biggest rap stars of all time) but that's just scratching the surface. Kendall, Kylie, Khloe and Kourtney all have links to major rappers, and it feels like they're just getting started.
See some of the Kardashian's closest hip-hop connects:
The most famous Kardashian started the rapper trend before she was quite so famous:
You know how this one goes, right? After about a year of officially dating, these two got engaged when ‘Ye rented out San Francisco’s AT&T Park and invited Kim’s whole family to watch, plus a camera crew to capture the moment. Then they got married in a ridiculously over-the-top ceremony in Florence, Italy that included celebrities that spanned music, movies and fashion. Oh, and together they've created baby North West, who's already a superstar in her own right.
Big Sean and Common
Nope, none of the Kardashians have dated either of these two yet, but because of their connection to Kanye, they’re now a part of the family too. Both rappers were spotted at KimYe’s blowout wedding in Italy, getting flirty in the photo booth.
If the Kardashian Klan has one rapper to thank for their meteoric rise to fame, it’s Ray J. Kim dated Brandy’s little brother back in day, and their infamous sex tape is what made the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star a household name. Sure, the reality TV show helped, but even her husband, Kanye West, proudly admits that “my girl a superstar all from a home movie” ("Clique"). From time to time Ray J likes to remind Kim what he did for her.
This one is a pretty recently revelation. Game was spotted hanging with Khloe Kardashian a lot over the past year, so he decided to dismiss rumors that they were dating by admitting that he dated Kim in the past. Perfect. He wouldn’t specify when, only admitting that it was for a short period of time.
Okay, maybe rapping isn’t his full-time thing, but he did dabble. And, just like Game, he picked a pretty odd time to make this news public. With his marriage to Mariah Carey reportedly on the rocks, Cannon admitted during a radio interview that he once hooked up with Kim -- or, at least once.
Kylie is the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner Klan but she might be giving Kim a run for her money soon enough:
This one is messy. Kim and Kanye were good friends with Tyga and his girlfriend Blac Chyna (who gave birth to the couple’s son Cairo in 2012). Now, Blac Chyna is out of the picture and Kylie and Tyga have been spending a lot of time together. They continue to deny and dismiss the rumors that they’re dating, but you can’t ignore the writing on the wall. In addition to their charity work and dressing up together for Halloween, Kylie keeps tongues wagging by posting photos of her hanging off of Tyga’s neck.
For awhile it seemed like Jaden Smith was totally smitten with Kylie Jenner. When he dropped his video for “Fast” he directed it at her on Twitter, which lead us to believe that the song, or visuals were dedicated to her. Then the whole Tyga thing started, and that might’ve been pretty miserable for Jaden.
Now it gets even better. It seems like Kanye pulled some strings to have Drake perform at Kylie Jenner’s Sweet 16 birthday party, which is cool except that Drizzy and Tyga really don’t seem to like each other. That became obvious this year, when Tyga called Drake “fake” in an interview, and then the Toronto native started to lob subliminal shots at his fellow YMCMB rapper. One of them included a screenshot of Kylie’s appearance in a music video for his OVO artist PartyNextDoor.
PartyNextDoor is technically an R&B singer, but he makes this list since he’s so heavily hip-hop affiliated. He’s signed to Drake’s OVO Sound label and this summer he dropped a video for his hit single “Recognize,” complete with cameos from both Kylie and Kendall Jenner. We're still not sure how that happened exactly.
Khloe was a late bloomer when it came to dating rappers:
After her difficult split from NBA player, Lamar Odom, Khloe rebounded with funny guy French Montana. They were spotted out on several dates, and we even saw French posting Instagram pictures with his BFFs Kim K. and Kris Jenner. French’s transformation into a socialite was complete when he appeared on the new season of “Khloe & Kourtney Take The Hamptons.” Pretty sure it’s French’s connection to the Kardashians that earned him studio time with Kanye West to work on his upcoming Mac and Cheese album.
Thanks to her relationship with French, it looks like Khloe's also gotten pretty tight with Diddy. In fact, she and French pooled their money together to buy the music mogul a pearl Cadillac for his birthday, which really made Diddy lost his sh--. He loved it so much that he posted an Instagram video of himself freaking out.
Kendall's list is pretty short for now, but that might not last for too long:
Again, Breezy is technically a singer, but we know for a fact that he considers himself to be deeply rooted in hip-hop culture. He’s been friends with the Kardashians for some time, but rumors have been swirling about him and Kendall Jenner recently, since he decided to post an Instagram photo with her sitting on his lap.
Scott Disick via Kourtney Kardashian
Kourtney Kardashian isn't really big on the rap scene, but her boyfriend, Scott Disick is:
It looks like Scott Disick picked up a few rap friends when he was filming "Kim & Khloe Take Miami" including N.O.R.E. They apparently got so tight that he got a skit on N.O.R.E.'s 2013 album Student of the Game called "Scott Disick Speaks."
This is a working list, so check back for updates in a few months. The Kardashians still have many rappers left to conquer.
