Not sure if you're too drunk to drive? Well, now there's an app for that!

The Maryland Highway Safety Office developed the ENDUI app, pronounced "End DUI," to help drivers prevent themselves from driving under the influence while imbibing on spirits.

Maryland Department of Transportation spokeswoman Erin Henson told the Baltimore Sun the mobile program cost $52,215 to make and hopes to quell some of the 152 deaths caused by alcohol-related car crashes in the state last year. The United States Department of Transportation reported 10,322 fatalities in crashes involving a driver with a BAC (blood alcohol level) of .08 or higher. That accounts for 31 percent of all traffic deaths.

Within the app users enter their weight and gender and then track the number and type of alcoholic drinks they've consumed within a specific timeframe. That information allows a simple equation to estimate the user's BAC. Anything over a .08 is no-go for getting behind the wheel.

It also doubles as a handheld sobriety tester, with built-in games to test your reaction times and ability to concentrate on road signs. Even with a BAC lowers than the legal limit, you could still be too intoxicated to operate your vehicle.

Suppose you've partied a little too hard? The app has built-in functions to help you call a cab or a designated driver to come pick you up. You can even report other drunk drivers in the area to the local authorities.

ENDUI is now available for free download in both the Google Play and Apple iTunes stores.
