13 Times Ian Somerhalder Was Our Favorite 'Crazy Cat Lady'

Because dudes who love cats are the dudes we love.

In her new video "Blank Space," Taylor Swift takes her media-assigned image of a lovestruck "Crazy Cat Lady" and runs with it, even adding her own cat Olivia Benson to the madness to truly nail her point home: No matter what you say, she's CCL and proud.

However, there's one celeb who began owning his -- yep, his -- CCL status years before TayTay and Olivia even hit the scene. "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder has has posed with his cat for People magazine, created how-to guides on caring for feral cats on his charity's website, and even fundraised to start his own animal sanctuary.

In short, the man who plays Damon Salvatore is an angel when it comes to four-legged creatures who chase their own tails, and to honor the many men out there who moonlight as Crazy Cat Ladies, here are our 13 favorite feline Somerhalder moments:

1. When he brought Moke to People's Sexiest Man Alive shoot.

"He's my Valium. The cat is Valium. He sedates me."

2. ... And made a dirty joke about it.

"Doesn't it like George Clooney is admiring my pussy? I think he is..." Somerhalder captioned on Instagram.

3. When he embraced his BFF for all the world to see.

"Being a dad... #GMB =Grown Man Business;)"

4. When he brought Moke to work on "The Vampire Diaries."

"Being a Dad... Morning vet visit with moke before heading to my 1st Day of work for SEASON 6 of The Vampire Diaries!," Somerhalder wrote.

5. When he let Moke have a "work from home" day.

"Me and Moke broadcasting from home for YEARS OF LIVING @yearsofliving DANGEROUSLY google hangout!"

6. When he shared a paw print photo, proving once and for all that he's just like us.

"The lone paw print from Moke in the snow just now. I think his exact words were 'fu-- that dad it's wet and cold...'"

7. When he remembered what life was all about.

"Great reminder I found getting home from work tonight..."

8. When he honored another famous man who loved cats.

"WWJD aka WHAT WOULD JOHNNY DO? Love a kitty... Me too-I'm proud to have this in common with The Man in Black."

9. ... And then, a famous cat who feels pretty "meh" about men.

"Me and my new love..."

10. When he advocated for feline adoption.

"It's HALLOWEEN!Will you go adopt a black kitty or Pup?Please? Black Dogs and cats are last to be adopted & the 1st to be euthanized...Why?Superstition.Silly humans-my little black one has done NOTHING but bring me amazing energy & shit-tons of love- in the words of Stevie Wonder-'When you believe in things that you don't understand then you suffer, Superstition ain't the way.' For unconditional love go to your nearest shelter-like tomorrow!"

11. ... And innovation in feline medicine.

"Do you want to live in a world with no stray animals? Me too... That's what I intend to do with The Ian Somerhalder Foundation and you all... Species-specific sterilization drugs need to finish being developed an intelligent innovative ways need to be used to distribute these drugs-by the public, corporations and governmental bodies. Imagine a world without stray animals. Imagine a world where all of that money used to capture and kill millions of animals is used for education, for medicine-for anything else other than the senseless destruction of these incredible creatures! What do you think? Is it possible?"

12. ... And less cruelty in shelters. (Damn.)

"The newest addition to the family. Her name is Sohalia. Thank you @iamnikkireed for finding us this amazing kid in Conyers Georgia. Unfortunately this little kid was wildly mislabeled as "feral/not friendly", and had Nikki not gone in and opened her cage regardless, we would have never found out that she is the most loving kitty on the planet and she may have been put down. The point is this; because shelters are so understaffed, this happens more often than not. Let's encourage the people who work at shelters and people whom make policies for shelter workers to take more time to get to know the animals that are brought in, so they can properly inform potential adopters. Also, if you are thinking about adding a new member to your family, know that there might be more to the animal than what's written on their cage!!! Go have fun and adopt! Send me pictures please! Thank you- Love, Ian"

13. And finally, when he posted this: what being a cat owner is truly all about.

Getting work done from bed. Umm... What's odd about this work day??? Boy he loves his dad.
