If you were worried about Zayn Malik's health after that "tummy bug" kept him from the band's "Today" show appearance last Monday morning, well, worry no more. Zayn looked as healthy and gorgeous as ever as he performed "Night Changes" with his One Direction bandmates at the American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 23, which should have Directioners worldwide (as well as Matt Lauer) breathing a collective sigh of relief.
Basically, the whole squad -- who won three AMAs, including Artist of the Year -- showed up looking fresh as they took the stage, clad head to toe in black, and crooned their latest ballad, while a beautiful night sky added some rustic atmosphere to the background.
Harry Styles in particular looked like he was paying homage to the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," while Louis Tomlinson's hair was as on-point as ever.
But of course, all eyes were on Zayn, since "Today" host Matt Lauer caused a stir when he asked One Direction if Zayn's absence on Monday's show -- which coincided with the release day of the album FOUR -- was due to an alleged substance abuse problem.
Zayn denied Lauer's allegations, telling The Sun that he was "really angry and upset" by what was said. But hopefully his energetic -- and pitch-perfect -- performance at the AMAs should ease the troubled minds of the thousands of Directioners who spent the week freaking out on Twitter (ourselves included).
And if the performance itself didn't turn them into a puddle of goo, there's always this legendary group hug:
