James Blake Wants Kanye West On His Next Album

Here's what we might get to hear on Blake's Overgrown follow-up.

James Blake’s follow-up to 2013’s Overgrown is “seventy percent done,” according to the singer, and a Kanye West collaboration might just end up on the project.

"I have a lot of respect for [Kanye], for what he has been releasing for years,” Blake says in an interview with the Miami New Times. "We haven't done a great deal of work in the same room yet, but we've done a few things, kind of helped each other with our own music.

"In terms of the actual collaboration for this record, it looks like we should be able to get something done,” he continues. "I know that there's a specific song I would like him to be on, and if he can do that by the time my record comes out, that would be fantastic.”

James Blake's talked about working with Kanye West for some time. In May, he said Yeezy asked him to play some beats. In June, the singer said he was collaborating with West. Perhaps there could be even more to come from the Blake/West connection? Time will tell.

Blake says he’s in a "good place to write” and that he’s not being complacent with this project. Instead, he says he’s working to complete it by “dabbling in some different production techniques.” Can't wait to hear what that sounds like.

We shouldn't be surprised that Blake's working with a renowned MC-producer on his upcoming project. After all, Blake’s Overgrown featured Wu-Tang Clan's RZA on “Take a Fall for Me.”
