"The Hanging Tree" starts out with just Lawrence's voice, but eventually swells to include an orchestra and a chorus for its dramatic finish. It was co-written by composer James Newton and folk rock band The Lumineers. Suzanne Collins, author of the "Hunger Games" book series, wrote the song's lyrics.

The song will appear not on the "Hunger Games" soundtrack curated by Lorde, but on the movie's official score, which comes out November 24. Listen below.
