SZA Gets Real On 'Sobriety': Listen

SZA returns to top, sultry R&B form with her new single, “Sobriety.”

The Thundercat-produced track provides a buoyant bassline for Top Dawg Entertainment’s Top Girl to express her lovestruck emotions with her signature, syrupy soul vocals.

Throughout the course of the semi-breakup song, the singer-songwriter convincingly describes the incongruous moods one experiences in the aftermath of a failed relationship.

“I still ain’t got no whip, I still ain’t got no friends, at least I got my family/ Bullsh-t, my daddy still can’t stand me, but hate’ll make you hard, hate’ll make you old, hate is gone too far, hate is all I know, and I can’t stay sober, I can’t stay sober,” she sings.
